Why Study Biology?

Biology has changed beyond recognition in the last 50 years. The emergence of genetics and cell and molecular biology has yielded medicines and technology that affects all of our lives. Biology also opens doors to other arenas: the pharmaceutical industry, clinical medicine, and cinematography for nature and television programmes all rely on extensive knowledge in diverse areas of Biology.

Biology Tutors

Our biology tutors have all studied biology at university. One of the biggest challenges any biology student has to face is the vast knowledge base required to succeed. Our tutors draw on experience of science teaching and communication as well as higher education to share their excitement in the field. Our tutors are excellent at distilling the relevant facts and high yield concepts that students absolutely must know as well as cementing a large body of knowledge. Additionally, some of our tutors are medical students who can marry abstract concepts and facts with clinically relevant examples.

Biology Teaching

We teach biology at all levels including GCSE, A level, SAT II, AP, and IB. All of these syllabi have their idiosyncrasies that our international group of tutors are experts at navigating. In particular, we are very experienced at helping British students fill in their knowledge gaps in order to excel at the SAT II Biology exams in preparation for university in the US. Our teaching staff also includes biology PhD candidates and clinical medical students who can advise and teach university level biology and medicine.

I am entering my fifth year studying Medicine at King's College London, a subject that constantly provides its scholars with evolving learning opportunities and requires a dynamic problem solving ability. My study in Medicine has two sides; I have a large interest in the innermost workings of the human body and find its intricacies fascinating, from hard numbers in physiology and biochemistry to the art of anatomy. On the other hand, I also enjoy the patient-doctor interaction and its cultivation through effective communication and problem resolving skills. I organise a London-wide society interested in the specialty of Sports Medicine with the aim of narrowing the gap between the professional and undergraduate worlds. This aim relies heavily on recruiting valuable speakers and opportunities, whilst coordinating the activities of my society and those of university-based societies. I also sit on the committee of the UK's undergraduate Sports Medicine society. My success through my medical career insofar has been built on utilisation of different learning techniques to understand and confidently apply information. I also embrace techniques such as goal-setting to formulate long term plans for personal and organisational development. I was educated at a state comprehensive in Garston, Watford. Throughout secondary school, I did not enjoy the teaching as I was unable to engage with the material or teachers. I missed out on valuable opportunities and my grades foundered. At GCSE level, however, I had great benefit after I started extra-curricular tuition, an experience that made my learning more accessible and enjoyable. Since then, I have embraced 'learning' as a process to be developed, understood and enjoyed. Throughout medical school I have aided colleagues with their own learning and last year, formally tutored for medical practical exams. Outside of Medicine, I like to do many things! I am a keen sportsman, representing King's College London Cycling team. I play a variety of different sports, and am still keen to throw a rugby ball around. I have an extensive reading list that I am working through, and I like to paint when I have a spare weekend. ...
I went to both a Grammar school and Millfield boarding school where I achieved my GCSE's and A-levels (Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Geography). In my final year at Millfield I sat the SAT and SAT II (Math & Biology) exams and went on to study Neurobiology at Harvard College. After completing my undergraduate degree, I am now studying graduate medicine at Kings College London. Before starting my second degree I went to China where I worked as a teacher and as an Education consultant. I have been working for Wentworth for over a year now, mainly focusing on the ISEE and SAT exams. ...
I have always been dedicated to success. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Cambridge with first-class honours in Natural Sciences, and was awarded a number of prestigious prizes for my performance. I then went on to study Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, and was awarded a Distinction for my MSc. More recently, I have moved to London to study law, and will begin my training to be a solicitor in 2018.

During my law studies, I am hoping to fill my free time with tutoring, a pursuit that I really enjoy. Over the past few years I have spent hundreds of hours tutoring, and have loved seeing my pupils become more confident and learn to enjoy their studies. I have also taken part in pro bono tutoring, helping to give less privileged students the same opportunities as those who are more fortunate, and acting as a mentor through their school careers. ...
My name is Sasha and I'm a graduate student of medicine at King's College London. I completed an undergraduate degree, and Masters, in chemistry (with chemical biology). I have been tutoring for the past 6 years, across a range of subjects and levels; my aim is always to broaden and develop my students' understanding of their subject, before going on to develop exam technique and build confidence. ...
My passion for tutoring stems from my own personal experience with understanding the impact that excellent teachers can have on our lives. At Winchester College, the leadership and inspiration of my teachers motivated me to succeed, and is reflected in my consistently strong academic record. Having now graduated with a First Class BA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge and successfully completed an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, I am keen to share my understanding and passion of the sciences and mathematics with new students. ...
