However, a dazzling array of academic credentials is not enough to secure a place as a top English tutor on our books. Our tutors are, first and foremost, lifelong readers. Nothing motivates a student more than the company of a teacher who radiates intellectual curiosity and a passion for reading. Our approach to English tutoring is based around the core skills that make up most of the examination questions a student will encounter. We look at a new pupil’s reading comprehension, textual analysis, creative writing and essay technique. The broad applicability of these skills is what makes really good English tutoring so beneficial. If a student can learn to read with a sharp eye for detail, and write with insight and clarity, they will flourish in every academic discipline.
