Why Study Philosophy?

The study of Philosophy allows us to consider the most fundamental questions about human existence. The subject introduces students to some of the greatest thinkers throughout history, and encourages them to engage with questions that have occupied humankind for thousands of years.

Studying this discipline can be a highly rewarding intellectual experience, thanks to its encouragement of reflection and contemplation. Skills developed through the study of Philosophy, such as communication, critical reasoning and general problem-solving are highly transferrable.

Our Philosophy Tutors

Our tutors have all studied the subject at university; most in Oxford, Cambridge or one of the Ivy League Colleges. Many have done or are doing doctorates.

Our tutors can provide specific support across the various subdisciplines within philosophy, including epistemology (the theory of knowledge), metaphysics (the theory of being), logic (the theory of reason and of inference), value theory (including ethics, politics and aesthetics), and the history of philosophy.

Philosophy Exam Preparation

Our tutors are experienced in working with students at various stages in their study of Philosophy. The majority of our tutors teach their specialist languages to A Level / high school level. However we can also provide highly specialised tutors for topics at university level. Please contact us to discuss your particular needs.

From A Level modules to degree-level work, they will work with you on the topics required. In the lead up to examinations, tutors will also provide detailed feedback and support on argument formation, analytical writing and essay technique.

Often, students with an interest in Philosophy will not have had the opportunity to study it at school, but may wish to apply to study it at university. In these cases, our tutors can provide introductory support as well as more intensive preparation for applications, assessments and interview.
