I graduated from Oriel College, Oxford in July 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. Throughout my school career I have balanced academic life with competitive tennis as a government funded, semi-professional player. This required huge drive and efficiency, for which I was rewarded with a stellar set of results at both GCSE and A-Level and a place at Oxford. Before starting my degree, I began tutoring part-time and have since helped children of a range of ages and abilities achieve similar academic excellence. I specialise in entrance to the UK's top schools, and have tutored students towards 7+, 8+, 11+ and Common Entrance to Westminster, St. Paul's and King's College to name a few. I am also interested in preparing students for Oxbridge entrance, and look to develop a student's passion for subjects beyond the syllabus not only immediately preceding their application, but in the years prior. I wish to help as many students as possible reach their desired academic goals and hugely enjoy transferring my own knowledge to my young protégées.

I attended Putney High School for the full 7 years. I achieved 11 A*s at GCSE, from which I received a Sixth Form Academic Scholarship. I went on to secure 4 A's at AS and A*A*A at A-Level.
My Tutoring & Teaching Experience
I began tutoring six years ago, whilst training as a tennis player on the WTA circuit, pre-Oxford. I have worked with children of a variety of ages and abilities, covering KS1 & 2 Numeracy and Literacy, YR 7 & 8 English, Maths and School Entrance Exams, YR9 Common Entrance Prep, YR 10 & 11 GCSE Prep and A-Level English. Since graduating from Oxford I have tutored full time, focusing on Entrance Prep to top schools such as Westminster, St. Paul's and King's College. I specialise in English, a subject that is particularly rewarding to teach as general improvements in the student's reading and writing skills have ramifications across many of their other subjects. This is especially apparent with students who are under-performing, which I find is often remedied by simply altering their methods of approach to certain exercises.
I find tutoring older students equally rewarding and have assisted a number at GCSE-level. I was also the sole teacher for an AS-Level English student, whom I taught over Skype. At A-Level standard, I specialise in English, History and Classics, and encourage my students to explore critical material surrounding their subject, attend lectures etc. to prepare them for University as well as their exams. In the future, I hope to focus more on applications to top universities such as Oxbridge and equivalent high-performing establishments.
My Approach to Tutoring
I usually begin with a preliminary assessment to better understand the student's strengths and weaknesses in a given area. This is not a gruelling task, but something fun and engaging, which allows me to better assess how the student thinks/articulates. I will also check the student has a grasp of the basic minutiae of their syllabus, particularly if working towards an entrance exam. I will then tailor a program to their needs, which I may adjust in future sessions depending on their progress.
I like to keep the student stimulated and engaged, so will often switch between more gruelling exercises and more relaxed tasks, which stretch them beyond the syllabus. If I am teaching a humanity, I will often build a reading list to both improve performance and extend the student's knowledge. Every few sessions I will set a mini test, from which I can see whether the student has absorbed the previous weeks' information. If they are working towards an exam, we will undertake regular revision using past papers and replica questions.
I am results focused, but also believe the process of learning and widening a student's horizons in a given subject, are paramount to their education. This is most crucial for older students in the years immediately preceding their applications to University - I encourage the student to look beyond their syllabus, to deepen their knowledge of the subjects that most interest and inspire them.
Fun Facts About Me
I was immersed in a huge variety of activities as a child, achieving Grade 7 in Piano and Ballet, as well as attending classes in swimming, netball, lacrosse and drama. Most notably, during my last two years of school I was funded by the Government through their programme AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) for tennis. I became a semi-professional player and travelled through Europe on the WTA International Circuit for two years pre-university. At Oxford, I played as No.1/ 2 on the Women's 1st tennis team and achieved a Blue in my first year. I also captained the Oriel College team in both tennis and netball and was social secretary for both the tennis club and Atalanta's Society for Women in Sport. I also trained once a week on the Oxford Ski Racing Team and attended a pre-season ski bootcamp on Hintertux Glacier, Austria, held by British Champion, Chemmy Alcott. I received Colours at the Varsity Racing in my second year.
Aside from my sporting life, I am a keen baker and run a baking Instagram, @voguebakes, which showcases some of my bakes and has just reached 5k followers! I am also in the process of publishing the first of a children's book series I have written, entitled, 'Old Master Finch'.
