Emily Hennah - Private Tutor in Central London

Emily Hennah Private Tutor in Central London

I’m a postgraduate medical student at King’s College London and Bristol University graduate with a passion for a wide range of subjects. Studying humanities to A level, focusing on crop genetics during my undergraduate degree and now working to become a doctor translates well into tutoring a varied curriculum and ensures I’ve had plenty of experience in the process of learning. I'm an enthusiastic tutor; effective tutoring raises children’s confidence and gives them skills which they can take far beyond our sessions, which is my favourite aspect of the job.

My Tutoring & Teaching Experience

Private tutoring (London, UK): 2014 - 2015

Wentworth Tutors (London, UK): 2016 - present

I first started peer tutoring during my undergraduate degree and since graduating have tutored privately in London for students doing a range of subjects, including ISEE, SSAT and GCSE.

My Approach to Tutoring

I work with my students to put their subjects into new contexts to make the subject really click for them. I especially enjoy working with students who feel less confident in their abilities because one-on-one tutoring allows you to get to the crux of their issues and find effective ways to explain the difficult concepts. Throughout my education, stepping away from traditional learning techniques helped me use my time more effectively, I believe that varying methods makes ideas stick. I like to use quizzes, videos and other resources to keep lessons varied and engaging.

Every student is different and I tailor sessions to find the approaches that work, as well as hopefully instilling some passion for their subject!

Fun Facts About Me

When I’m not at university I’m either playing sports or off on an adventure. I swim for fitness and play squash for my university team, I’ve also developed a bad habit of running up hills in the Black mountains. A recent biking convert, I cycled down the French coast last summer and am currently planning the next trip.
