My Tutoring & Teaching Experience

Teacher, Oxbridge Summer Camps Abroad, Hong Kong
Taught English as a foreign language to groups of 15-20 students in Hong Kong. Conducted mock interviews and personal statement tutorials for pre-university students.
Science Teaching Assistant, St Bernard’s School, New York USA
I engaged in one-on-one teaching with weaker students during class, ensuring they fully understood course material. I also assisted with the grading of homework, providing constructive feedback to the students. Working with a wide range of age groups gave me a strong grounding in tailoring my teaching style to an appropriate level.

My Approach to Tutoring

I believe students perform best when they feel as confident as possible. This inspires my teaching style, which is kind and respectful but rigorous and thorough. I strive to build a trusting and respectful relationship between me and my students, as this is conducive to an enthusiastic and successful learning atmosphere. My excellent academic record in mathematics and the sciences from GCSE through to my MSc degree means I am well-suited to teach these disciplines. I greatly enjoy teaching science, as I find that the analytical and argumentative skills it fosters form the fundamental backbone to learning all disciplines, from languages through to the arts. I have extensive experience of teaching students from all over the world, which makes me well-equipped to deal with students from diverse and international backgrounds.
