Wentworth Tutors is one of London's most prestigious tutoring agencies. Read more about our tutors, or simply give us a call! We would love to discuss your particular ambitions and how we can help you achive your goals.
We can teach all subjects for all ages. We truly excel in mathematics and the sciences, but we love a challenge and have been asked to tutor everything from the Rubik's cube to McKinsey interview tests. So please contact us if you have an unusual request.
We regularly prepare students for all UK school exams: 11+, 13+, Common Entrance, Scholarship, GCSE, AS, A level, Pre-Us and some of the worlds most challenging maths exams (STEP and IMO). We also specialise in the US syllabus, US standardised tests, and US High School exams, including: ISEE & SSAT, SAT I, ACT, SAT II Subject Tests, Advanced Placement (AP) Exams.
Our network of tutors is truly invaluable and what sets us apart from other agencies. We only accept the best. All our tutors attended world class universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Many are qualified teachers, teaching in some of London's top schools, such as Westminster and St Pauls. We closely interview all of our tutors and our founders can personally vouch for all of them as superb role models.
Our tutors are high achievers and all have plenty of experience in the subjects and exams that they teach. But we make sure they balance fun and engagement with targetted and focussed work to ensure their students cover the syllabus and achieve their goals in a stimulating way.
Private Home Tutors
Most of our private or home tutors are based in London and they usually tutor face to face at their students home address (all across Greater London). However, we also provide group classes and Skype-based lessons.
First our Head Tutor will discuss your particular needs, often face to face. Once we understand exactly what you need we will offer to introduce you to a selection of our best tutors, and send you their profiles. We always stay in contact with you and your tutor to ensure everything is progressing smoothly and provide you with detailed feedback (like a school subject report) at the end of each month.

Pro Bono Education with Wentworth Tutors
Here at Wentworth, we work with students from all backgrounds. Our pro bono initiative focuses on students applying to university who have not necessarily had the support and resources they require. We work with academies and schools based in and around London, and are very proud of making a difference to students at one of the most critical times in their lives. Our pro bono projects are run by Elizabeth Bamber, who has been tutoring since 2011; Elizabeth currently works in Law and is a graduate of St John's College Cambridge, where she studied Neuroscience.
We are currently running a programme to support students through their university applications, with a particular emphasis on those applying to Oxbridge. This involves our excellent tutors delivering workshops on interview preparation and carrying out mock interviews with the students, thus sharing their expert knowledge with individuals who will really benefit from it. Over the last three years we have partnered with several Teach First schools in London.
Watch this space – as we will be adding more details soon. We look forward to sharing our stories of success with you!
Dr Katherine Wiles Speaks in TedX ASL
Dr Katherine Wiles, our founding director recently spoke in the American School of London's TedX Talk. Katherine adressed everyone's nightmare interview question: "Describe a time you faced adversity and how you dealt with it." There are many variants of this question, "Describe a time you failed," "Describe a time you took a risk," and so on, but they're all assessing the same ideas.
Katherine diagnoses the question and explains what it's asking, why interviewers ask it and how to think about answering it. She also dives into some case studies from British and American History and Bob, the naughty schoolboy. So if you're a Junior or a Senior in High School preparing for college interviews, applying for your first job in the milkround, or even an experienced interviewer, we hope you'll enjoy listening to and learn something from Katherine's talk.

Catriona Ramsay – Private Tutor in Hong Kong and Singapore
I graduated from Cambridge University (Newnham College) with a 2:1 in Social Anthropology (and a 1st in Development Studies) in 2009. I have been tutoring private clients since 2005 in subjects ranging from English, Maths, English as foreign language, Interview Technique and Preparation, Test & Exam Preparation and Mentoring. However, my current focus and speciality is tutoring students for all levels of the ISEE and SSAT test as well as tutoring the 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. As a child, I attended the Chinese International School in Hong Kong and Alice Smith International School in Kuala Lumpur and then boarded at school in the UK as an overseas student. As a consequence, I particularly enjoy working with students based in Asia applying to international schools and preparing them for the cultural and curriculum adjustment of becoming an overseas student. I am now based in Singapore and tutor students of all ages here and in Hong Kong primarily. I have an excellent track record of increasing test scores and helping tutees to have the confidence and ability to achieve the grades required for their desired schools whilst also acting as a mentor throughout the preparation process. ...
Sophia Ohler – Private Tutor in London
I'm originally from New York, and have been living in London for a bit over a year now. After graduating from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Creative Writing (Cum Laude), I received my Master's degree from the London Film School. I've been privately tutoring for years, as a peer tutor on Harvard's campus with the Bureau of Study Council, as well as with private agencies. I also have extensive experience as an Admissions Representative in the Harvard Admissions Office. I specialise in the American curriculum and US College Counselling, but know and work with the English curriculum as well. ...
Anna Harrison – Private Tutor in Central London
I was brought up in Central London where I attended Glendower and St Paul's Girls' School. After that, I went on to read Engineering at Trinity College, Cambridge, before working at Goldman Sachs for the past two and half years. Earlier this year I left the City in order to pursue a long standing interest in Medicine. I have always loved Maths and Science and truly believe that we need to encourage students to continue with their STEM subjects. Having had some fantastic teachers throughout my education I really understand the importance of engaging with students, and ensuring that sessions are fun and in context. Having gone through the UK private school system myself, I am very familiar with the quirks of the British education system, from picking secondary schools at 11 or 13 plus, to navigating the university application system. ...
Elizabeth Bamber – Private Tutor in London
I have always been dedicated to success. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Cambridge with first-class honours in Natural Sciences, and was awarded a number of prestigious prizes for my performance. I then went on to study Neuroscience at the University of Oxford, and was awarded a Distinction for my MSc. More recently, I have moved to London to study law, and will begin my training to be a solicitor in 2018.
During my law studies, I am hoping to fill my free time with tutoring, a pursuit that I really enjoy. Over the past few years I have spent hundreds of hours tutoring, and have loved seeing my pupils become more confident and learn to enjoy their studies. I have also taken part in pro bono tutoring, helping to give less privileged students the same opportunities as those who are more fortunate, and acting as a mentor through their school careers. ...
Luke Howarth – Professional Teacher in Central London
I took a teaching post at Harrow School in 2015, teaching IGCSEs in English Language and Literature and delivering lectures to A-level students. I was also made Director-in-Residence and Master-in-Charge of Debating. Earlier that year I graduated with a first class degree in English Language and Literature from Christ Church, Oxford, where I was one of the twelve original Reuben Scholars. My papers in Shakespeare and Beckett for Finals were classed as publishable. Throughout my time at Oxford and Harrow, I have accumulated extensive experience tutoring privately for a range of abilities, from pre-test to university admissions. Although my undergraduate degree was in the arts, I have always nurtured a healthy interest in subjects across the curriculum, having studied Further Mathematics and Physics at A Level, and I am continually excited by the prospect of facilitating the development of a student’s academic pursuits in a variety of disciplines. A constant desire to advance my own knowledge energises me as a tutor, and I believe that communicating this enthusiasm allows me to stimulate both the curiosity and diligence of my tutees. ...
