Our network of tutors is truly invaluable and what sets us apart from other agencies. We only accept the best. All our tutors attended world class universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Many are qualified teachers, teaching in some of London's top schools, such as Westminster and St Pauls. We closely interview all of our tutors and our founders can personally vouch for all of them as superb role models. Our tutors are high achievers and all have plenty of experience in the subjects and exams that they teach. But we make sure they balance fun and engagement with targetted and focussed work to ensure their students cover the syllabus and achieve their goals in a stimulating way.

Wentworth Education in the News

Pro Bono Education with Wentworth Education

Here at Wentworth Education, we work with students from all backgrounds. Our pro bono initiative focuses on students applying to university who have not necessarily had the support and resources they require. We work with academies and schools based in and around London, and are very proud of making a difference to students at one of the most critical times in their lives.

We are currently running a programme to support students through their university applications, with a particular emphasis on those applying to Oxbridge. This involves our excellent tutors delivering workshops on interview preparation and carrying out mock interviews with the students, thus sharing their expert knowledge with individuals who will really benefit from it. Over the last three years we have partnered with several Teach First schools in London.

Watch this space – as we will be adding more details soon. We look forward to sharing our stories of success with you!

Dr Katherine Wiles Speaks in TedX ASL

Dr Katherine Wiles, our founding director recently spoke in the American School of London's TedX Talk. Katherine adressed everyone's nightmare interview question: "Describe a time you faced adversity and how you dealt with it." There are many variants of this question, "Describe a time you failed," "Describe a time you took a risk," and so on, but they're all assessing the same ideas.

Katherine diagnoses the question and explains what it's asking, why interviewers ask it and how to think about answering it. She also dives into some case studies from British and American History and Bob, the naughty schoolboy. So if you're a Junior or a Senior in High School preparing for college interviews, applying for your first job in the milkround, or even an experienced interviewer, we hope you'll enjoy listening to and learn something from Katherine's talk.

Having studied in a boarding school in West Sussex, where I was a deputy-head of house and School prefect, I studied Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. At university, I encountered a wide variety of disciplines and ways of thinking; from politics, to psychology to history. I completed an MSc degree in Law and Anthropology at The London School of Economics (LSE), during which I worked as an administrator for a legal research network and organised conferences for a international think tank, most notably a conference at the European Union parliament in Brussels.

Following my studies, I worked for the Department for Education in Westminster, where I advised schools on how to progress and collaborate with each other. I also began volunteering with a grassroots educational charity that mentors children from underrepresented communities through organising sports coaching and workshops.

I then went on to teach History at Rugby School, a top-tier boarding school in the Midlands, where I taught students between the ages of 13 to 18 years. I was also a pastoral tutor in a boarding house, where I was responsible for helping the sixth form students with their university and UCAS applications.

I am a home-schooling specialist and trained teacher, with a Cambridge first-class degree and experience working at a top UK boarding school. Having taught classes of students of wide-ranging abilities, I am aware of the importance of catering for the specific needs of individuals; this is what primarily draws me to tutoring. There is nothing more satisfying than having the time to sit and work through the challenges that a particular student is facing, one-to-one. As a teacher, I know the value that this can add to both their achievement and also their enjoyment of schoolwork. So often seemingly overwhelming problems are born of a simple misunderstanding which can be quickly ironed out within individual tutor time, and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know the individual learning styles and interests of my students. ...
I graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 2013 in Natural Sciences (specialising in chemistry) and went straight onto the Teach First graduate programme. For the past three years, I have taught science at Essa Academy in Bolton to students with a vast range of abilities and levels of engagement and have led on engaging and challenging gifted and talented students looking to apply to the top universities.

I am a professional, enthusiastic and committed teacher who is passionate about sharing knowledge and experience with students of all ages and abilities. At Essa, I strive to instil in my students a determination to succeed and a confidence in their own abilities that allows them to maximise their potential – qualities that I have transferred to tutoring with great success. ...
I graduated from Cambridge University (Newnham College) with a 2:1 in Social Anthropology (and a 1st in Development Studies) in 2009. I have been tutoring private clients since 2005 in subjects ranging from English, Maths, English as foreign language, Interview Technique and Preparation, Test & Exam Preparation and Mentoring. However, my current focus and speciality is tutoring students for all levels of the ISEE and SSAT test as well as tutoring the 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. As a child, I attended the Chinese International School in Hong Kong and Alice Smith International School in Kuala Lumpur and then boarded at school in the UK as an overseas student. As a consequence, I particularly enjoy working with students based in Asia applying to international schools and preparing them for the cultural and curriculum adjustment of becoming an overseas student. I am now based in Singapore and tutor students of all ages here and in Hong Kong primarily. I have an excellent track record of increasing test scores and helping tutees to have the confidence and ability to achieve the grades required for their desired schools whilst also acting as a mentor throughout the preparation process. ...
I have experience teaching a range of ages, both privately part-time and in full time employment as a teacher at Hurstpierpoint College, where I worked for a year before starting my degree at Oxford University. I have a particular interest in entrance into the UK's top schools and Universities, teaching 11 plus, Common Entrance, and preparing students for Oxbridge. I am aided by a detailed understanding of UK independent schools as well as experience preparing for the American education system at ISEE and SSAT level in particular. I have delivered private tuition to children between 5 and 20 years. I find tutoring immensely rewarding and particularly enjoy the focused nature of assisting an individual with their academic goals. ...
By day, I work at PA Consulting in the Software and Controls group, where I have built embedded systems, optimising simulations and automated test platforms. I developed his love for computers at an early age, first learning to program at 14. I then followed this interest through a Computer Science degree at the University of Cambridge, before taking it into the world of work. ...
I'm originally from New York, and have been living in London for a bit over a year now. After graduating from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Creative Writing (Cum Laude), I received my Master's degree from the London Film School. I've been privately tutoring for years, as a peer tutor on Harvard's campus with the Bureau of Study Council, as well as with private agencies. I also have extensive experience as an Admissions Representative in the Harvard Admissions Office. I specialise in the American curriculum and US College Counselling, but know and work with the English curriculum as well. ...
I grew up in Devon and went to a local Grammar School, where I first started tutoring whilst studying for my A-levels. I went on to study Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating in 2013 with an MA (1st-class) and MMATH (Merit). I was offered a place at Warwick University to study for my PhD, but ended up changing fields. I am now studying Medicine on an accelerated graduate entry program at Barts and the London School of Medicine, graduating in 2018.

Although I've ended my own career in Maths for now I have never lost my passion for the subject, and enjoy continuing this through tutoring. I've worked with students of all abilities, with the bulk of my experience tutoring Maths and Physics at A-level and GCSE standard. I also tutor Biology and Chemistry, drawing on the past two years I have spent studying Medicine. Studying Medicine has enhanced my tutoring ability, as we spend a considerable amount of time developing our communication skills. ...
