ISEE & SSAT Tutoring & Test Prep

ISEE and SSAT are used for application to some secondary schools in the United States. We can provide tutors who are experienced at teaching and mentoring students through their preparation for these tests. But we can also monitor progress through mock exams we organise. Our tutor (and you) will be able to see student progression and test feedback; we use this to tailor our tutoring approach to maximise impact.

See more detail on our ISEE and SSAT tutoring or read about the differences between the ISEE and the SSAT.

American (USA) Schools Consulting

We help families moving to the United States every year to select schools in areas ranging from Seattle to Houston, LA to New York, and Greenwich to Baltimore. Each year we also help many students gain access to the UK based American schools such as ASL, ACL and TASIS. Additionally we tutor, on a weekly basis, numerous students attending these UK based American schools.

US High School & Preparing For College

SAT I

The SAT I assesses the skills that are taught in all schools: reading, writing, and mathematics. It lasts 3 hours and 45 minutes. The Critical Reading section asks questions about sentence completion and passage-based analysis through the use of long and short texts. The Mathematics test has two types of questions: multiple choice and student-completed. The Mathematics portion assesses numeracy, algebra, geometry, data analysis, statistics, and probability. The Writing portion of the exam is divided into two parts: multiple choice questions based on error detection and a long essay. We provide classes before some of the SAT I exam dates so please contact us to discuss your needs.

See more detail on our SAT I tutoring. Or read our article on the frequently asked questions and the differences between the SAT I vs ACT.

ACT

Some students will prefer to sit the ACT which is similar to the SAT but has four sections: Critical Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and Science. There is an erroneous perception that the SAT I is “more valid” than the ACT as both are widely used and accepted. We recommend that any prospective student take a practice test in both before choosing which test to take.

SAT II Subject Tests

The SAT IIs are hour-long tests that assess specific subject knowledge such as Mathematics level I, Mathematics level II, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Spanish, German, Latin, US History and English Literature. The material on these tests is different to the standard UK syllabus and therefore warrants some extra preparation. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

SAT & University Admissions Counselling | Talal Al-Nawab

"Talal greatly supported me on both my US and UK university applications as well as my SAT test preparation. Having studied in the UK, I was very unfamiliar with the US university application process in particular. It was clearly a complex landscape and I struggled to know where to start. Talal provided me with clear direction in terms of narrowing down my university choices to a carefully considered range of options - 10 universities - that were a best fit for me and working carefully through the application process with me. The essay drafting process can be particularly challenging and I greatly appreciated Talal's approach to helping me get the most out of my essays. He allowed my voice to come through in an eloquent way. Talal's strong knowledge of the UK university system also meant that he was able to fully support my UCAS application by narrowing my choices down to 5 universities and helping me draft my personal statement. Talal also worked with me on the SAT. My English and Math section scores both improved considerably through our work together. I really appreciated Talal's patience, positivity and encouragement to keep me motivated and aspiring for the highest score I was capable of. His knowledge of the curriculum and specific test-taking strategies made a real difference to my score." ... See Talal Al-Nawab's tutoring profile.
